Little Bradford / If Not Why Not / Bradford Arms, Bradford New Road

Formerly the Bradford Arms, the Little Bradford was so-called to avoid confusion with the "Big Bradford" - the Bradford Hotel nearby on Mill Street [1].  It also had a spell as the 'If Not Why Not' in the 1980s which was a gay-friendly pub, where the owners had plans to install an aeroplane out the back as a restaurant [2].  However, the Little Bradford lost its battle with a compulsory purchase order and the huge ASDA store stands on the site opposite the City of Manchester Stadium where the new East Manchester tram line will run.  The pub was photographed for Pubs Galore by Alan Winfield.
