Korumba, York Street

Next door to the now shut Scubar on York Street off Oxford Road is another closed venue.  Korumba appears to have been a student bar / club venue.  The below above shows it in the centre with Scubar in the background.

  1. Great pub this, we used to visit after playing uni badminton at the nearby sugden sports centre. Always seemed busy with students but was always amazingly cheap, even by student standards, which may be what caused its downfall. Ran by a bloke we used to call "Chris Evans" due to his uncanny likeness to the ginger dj. Think his real name was steve.

  2. I've been trying to remember the name of this bar for ages and finally stumbled on this page! My group of friends also referred to the landlord as Chris Evans haha. He really was the spitting image of him. Great times here, dart board and pool table were in excellent condition and very cheap but decent beer!
